Justin Bieber Tops Billboard 200 With 'My World 2.0'

Season Finale of The Blog Show

Justin Bieber debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with "My World 2.0," after shifting 283,000 copies in its first week. It's the teenager's second album and first No. 1. His first set, "My World," debuted at No. 6 upon its release last November. This week it rises to a new peak, scooting from No. 10 to No. 5 with 50,000 (up 50%).

At 16-years old, Bieber is the youngest solo male artist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since Aug. 24, 1963, when the then-13-year old Stevie Wonder spent one week at No. 1 with "Little Stevie Wonder/The 12 Year Old Genius." (Wonder recorded the album when he was 12, but released it after turning 13.) "My World 2.0's" opening frame is also Bieber's best sales week, surpassing his previous high, when the first "My World" sold 157,000 copies over Christmas week of 2009.

Thus, with albums at Nos. 1 and 5, Bieber is the first act to concurrently chart two albums within the top five of the Billboard 200 since the chart dated Oct. 9, 2004. That's when Nelly ranked at Nos. 2 and 4 with "Suit" and "Sweat," respectively. Nelly had bowed the simultaneously-released albums at Nos. 1 and 2 on the previous week's chart. The last time an act placed two albums in the top five that weren't concurrently released was on May 3, 2003. That week 50 Cent's first two major label releases -- "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" and the CD/DVD combo "The New Breed" were at Nos. 5 and 2, respectively.

Coming in at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 is Monica with "Still Standing," selling 184,000 copies. It's the singer's second-highest sales week and charting album, surpassed only by the 186,000 that "After the Storm" earned when it started at No. 1 way back in 2003. Last week Monica claimed her first No. 1 single on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in almost seven years as "Everything to Me" climbed from No. 3 to No. 1 on the tally. The tune -- which samples Deniece Williams' "Silly," a No. 11 R&B hit for the singer in 1981 -- is Monica's sixth No. 1 overall on the R&B chart.

The continuing saga of the "Now That's What I Call Music!" series extends its Billboard 200 chart dominance this week as the 33rd volume arrives at No. 3 with 135,000. The 21-track collection features Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles like Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" and Owl City's "Fireflies" and top 10 hits like Rihanna's "Hard" and Train's "Hey, Soul Sister." And with the "Now" franchise's latest spin-off, the Christian-leaning "Now That's What I Call Faith" debuting at No. 143, the "Now" brand has racked up an impressive 56 charting albums since it launched in 1998.

The final new arrival in the top 10 this week belongs to She & Him with its second album, fittingly titled "Volume Two." It starts at No. 6 with 47,000. That trumps the peak and best sales week of the duo's first set, "Volume One," which topped out at No. 71. (Its best sales frame -- 10,000 -- came a week earlier when it debuted on the list at No. 81.)

Last week's No. 1, Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," slips to No. 4 with 78,000 (down 16%) while Ludacris' "Battle of the Sexes" falls four slots to No. 7 with 45,000 (down 27%). Lady Gaga's "The Fame" slides three rungs to No. 8 with 41,000 (down 15%), Marvin Sapp's "Here I Am" drops seven spots to No. 9 with 39,000 (down 48%) and the Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D." moves down two positions to No. 10 with 34,000 (down 11%).

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending March 28) totaled 6.03 million units, up 6.5% compared to the sum last week (5.66 million) and down 11% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (6.77 million).

Blog #29 (March 29, 2010) (Farewell Shawn Michaels...)

Farewell, Shawn...

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW

PHOENIX – The day after WrestleMania XXVI ushers in a new era. While a crop of new, exhilarating, young Superstars are being cultivated in the hothouse of WWE, it was time for one Superstar, Shawn Michaels, to bid farewell after offering up a 25-year feast of cherished memories and jaw-dropping moments. Thank you, Shawn Michaels.
Shawn Michaels offered WWE Universe his farewell addressIt didn’t seem real. How could it? How could Shawn Michaels, after an unparalleled 25-year career, really be saying goodbye? After losing his Streak vs. Career Match against The Undertaker, however, that’s precisely what happened.
Emotions ran high throughout the WWE Universe as The Deadman entered the U.S. Airways Center and tipped his hat to the opponent that came closest to ending his WrestleMania winning streak. After that show of respect, HBK entered to a standing ovation to address the crowd. He thanked his friend Triple H, Mr. McMahon, Bret Hart, his family and the WWE Universe for the greatest ride of his life. And for the final time, he said with tears in his eyes, “Ladies and gentlemen, The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels, has left the building.”
WWE Champion John Cena & Randy Orton def. Jack Swagger & Batista (WATCH)
Enemy of my enemy is my friend. Even that old adage got stretched to the breaking point when freshly-crowned WWE Champion John Cena chose Randy Orton as his partner to take on Batista & Jack Swagger. With no love loss between The Viper and The Animal, Cena perhaps felt he was in good company. That feeling paid off when The Champ and Orton, despite an uneasy partnership, managed to wear down their foes. Eventually, The Viper struck the new Mr. Money in the Bank with an RKO to seize the win.
Unified Tag Team Champions The Miz & Big Show interrupted Bret Hart; The Hart Dynasty def. Show-Miz (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2)
After an epic victory over his nemesis, Mr. McMahon, the night before, Bret Hart decided to thank his supporters. The touching expression of gratitude, however, was spoiled when Unified Tag Team Champion The Miz entered flapping his gums and talking smack. Yes, really! When his partner Big Show barged into the fray, Hart’s family, The Hart Dynasty, made certain to get their kin’s back. With a little prodding, Show-Miz finally agreed to a match against the Dynasty.
Perhaps riding their high from the entire weekend, including Stu Hart’s WWE Hall of Fame induction, The Hart Dynasty lit into their opponents. So much so, in fact, that the Unified Tag Team Champions decided to tuck tail and scram, exiting the ring and losing by intentional count-out.
Eve, Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim def. Divas Champion Maryse, Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, Layla, Alicia Fox & Vickie Guerrero (WATCH)
Pigs flew last night at WrestleMania – quite literally. You see, Official SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero secured a win for her squad when she landed a “Hog Splash” atop Kelly Kelly in a 10-Diva Tag Team Match. In the Raw rematch, however, Guerrero – alongside Diva’s Champion Maryse, Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, Layla & Alicia Fox – was unable to save her team’s bacon. When Eve – teaming with Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly & Gail Kim – entered the ring against Maryse, the beauty appeared unrelenting against the conceited Canadian and forcefully pinned her in short order.
Sheamus attacked Triple H (WATCH)
One night after narrowly defeating The Irishman on The Grandest Stage of Them All, Triple H addressed the WWE Universe. He wanted to make clear that he would be honoring his best friend, Shawn Michaels, after his D-Generation X cohort lost his Streak vs. Career Match against The Undertaker the night before. As The Game opened up about his pal, Sheamus stomped down and attacked before leaving with a satisfied smirk on his mug.
Christian def. Ted DiBiase in a Legends Lumberjack Match (WATCH)
In honor or their new movie, the No. 1 comedy Hot Tub Time Machine, special guest hosts Rob Corddry and Clark Duke intervened in a match between Christian and Ted DiBiase to arrange a “Back in Time” Legends Lumberjack Match, featuring a slew of legends such as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat, Sgt. Slaughter and recent WWE Hall of Fame inductee, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase. During the match, the legend lumberjacks began to scuffle on the outside, and the distraction allowed Captain Charisma to wrap up DiBiase for the win. When The Million Dollar Man, who was involved in the scuffle, entered the ring to console his son, the younger DiBiase rebuffed him and exited in a huff.
WWE Champion John Cena confronted Batista; Jack Swagger attacked The Champ (WATCH)
He tried to play it cool, but Batista just couldn’t bear the thought of losing to John Cena at WrestleMania. He pretended that dropping the WWE Title was nothin’ but a thang, but when The Champ popped up, The Animals’ fur stood on edge. Cena prodded him to invoke his rematch clause, but Batista begged off. Instead, he took a cheap shot before the new WWE titleholder tossed him from the ring.
As Cena watched his rival storm off, Jack Swagger, who won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania and a title opportunity, ambushed him and quickly called for a referee. Before one could become available, however, The Champ recovered, causing “The All-American American” to clutch his briefcase and beat a hasty retreat.

WWE Smackdown Results: Ready, set, Spear!

WICHITA, Kan. – He came. He saw. He Speared.
Ever since winning the 2010 Royal Rumble Match, Edge has shown no signs of slowing down on The Road to WrestleMania. And on this night, both Big Show and World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho felt his wrath.
Also shining on this night were R-Truth, John Morrison and Matt Hardy who all qualified for WrestleMania!

Edge def. Unified Tag Team Champion Big Show (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The World’s Largest Athlete is one of the most formidable foes for anyone in WWE. However, Edge proved he was up to the challenge by cleverly avoiding a chokeslam with a DDT, then downing the 500-pounder with a devastating Spear. After the match, World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho tried to attack Edge from behind, but he too was met with the Spear. Afterward, The Ultimate Opportunist led the WWE Universe in chants of “Spear, Spear, Spear …”
The night ended for Big Show the same way it began with Edge getting the better of him. At the start of the night, Edge, avoided a charging Big Show, who ended up toppling out of the ring and falling hard onto the arena floor. (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Matt Hardy def. Intercontinental Drew McIntyre in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)

Just before the first match of the night, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long delivered shocking news. By order of The Chairman, Drew McIntyre’s loss to Kane last week was “expunged.” Given a second chance, the champion took on Matt Hardy in another Money in the Bank Qualifier. But after reversing an attempted cover by McIntyre, Hardy punched his ticket to WrestleMania, while the champion was left pondering his first official loss.

Shelton Benjamin def. Dolph Ziggler (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Both looking to make a strong showing before they meet in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania, Shelton Benjamin and Dolph Ziggler battled it out. In the end, it was The Gold Standard who came up money when he stopped the Zig Zag and crushed Ziggler with Paydirt.

Ezekiel Jackson def. Jimmy Wang Yang (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In his SmackDown debut, the massive 309-pound Ezekiel Jackson absolutely obliterated Jimmy Wang Yang. The shape of things to come on Friday nights is sure to change, now that Big Zeke is in the house!

Rey Mysterio def. Luke Gallows (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Before the match, CM Punk encouraged Luke Gallows to get the win and earn some payback for Mysterio keeping Punk out of WrestleMania for interfering in his Money in the Bank Qualifying Match last week. (PHOTOS) Despite Punk’s words, Gallows failed his Straight Edge savior by getting pinned by Mysterio. After the bout, Punk tried to hit Mysterio with the Go to Sleep. But he too failed to get the better of The Master of the 619. Punk was seething at the outcome.

R-Truth & John Morrison def. Cryme Tyme and The Hart Dynasty in a Unified Tag Team Title Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In an exhibition of true teamwork, R-Truth and John Morrison won a Triple Threat Tag Team Match against Cryme Tyme and The Hart Dynasty when Truth dropped Tyson Kidd with the Lie Detector. Now, the duo will take on Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show and The Miz at WrestleMania. (Match preview)
